There is a myriad of things to do in Valletta. We want to share the less common aspects of this with you so you can have a different itinerary and especially if you are looking for an extraordinary experience. Whether you’re stopping here for a few days or a couple of weeks, dedicate a day to visiting the capital of Malta. Valletta is one of the prettiest small cities you will see in the Mediterranean and it has a lot to offer.
Eat in the Malta Capital
Like every Mediterranean city, Valletta is a place where you will find food for every palate. Whether you’re looking to try the local exotic octopus or rabbit dishes or prefer to stick with more familiar Mediterranean bistro style food, you’ll find it all here. The great thing about Valletta is that the restaurants and cafés have long opening hours and you can find something to eat at any time of the day – especially during the peak summer season when it’s bustling with tourists.
What to See in Valletta
Probably the rarest things you will find in Valletta are the Caravaggio paintings and the 3D sculptures of the Knights of Malta housed within the ornate baroque walls of St. Johns Co-Cathedral.
Built by the Knights to honour their dead, St. Johns Co-Cathedral is a true gem. Its historical and heritage value is absolutely priceless. The building has been recently restored to its former appearance on the facade and the original clocks returned to its front.
No matter what language you speak, you can find a guide or a recording to take along from the Cathedral itself. You can learn all the history and see the rare paintings in under two hours.
Once you’ve learnt about the knights, a walk through the streets of Valletta will speak history to you.
